How do you stay in Australia through a work contract?
We hear a lot about the sponsorship opportunities in
Australia, or the possibility of linking one's stay in the country to a work
contract. This is just one of the ways to succeed over time in getting a stay
in Australia.
The famous sponsorship visa (Temporary Work Skilled Visa
subclass 457) was revised and updated in April 2017.
The 457 was replaced by the TSS (Temporary Skills Shortage),
which was divided into two streams: one short term (short term) and one long
term (long term). The famous SOL (Skilled Occupation List) and CSOL
(Consolidated Skilled Occupation List) lists have been updated and renamed and
the sponsorship system is now based on two lists:
STSOL (Short-Term skilled occupation list): corresponds more
or less to the old CSOL list. If your profession is on this list you can get a
sponsor of 2 years, possibly renewable for 2 years but that does not lead
directly to the stay, if not passing through other visas. STSOL includes around
270 professions *
MLTSSL (Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List): derives
from the old SOL list and leads to permanent residence in Australia (permanent
residency) within 3 years. The list includes 180 professions about *
* the lists are variable and are updated every six months
according to the needs of the Australian labor market
Among the requirements to apply for a sponsorship is the
linguistic one: one of the following certifications is needed, with an adequate
score (IELTS, OET, TOEFLT iBT, PTE Academic Test, CAE).
